  • David Robertson

    David RobertsonNon-Executive Chairman

    David took on the role of Non-Executive Chairman of Smith Anderson In July 2016. He was previously involved in the Company as the Group Finance Director and Group Managing Director between 1994 and 2009 and as an Alternate Director and Chair of the Audit Risk Committee between 2012 and 2016.

    David trained as a Chartered Accountant with Coopers Lybrand in Edinburgh and spent 12 years in total with the firm servicing a wide variety of businesses in the UK, Canada and the US before joining Smith Anderson in 1994.

    Since 2009 he has been providing business strategy, governance and other management consulting services to businesses operating in the manufacturing, wholesale, web retailing, software development, childcare and social housing sectors. He frequently takes on the roles of Non-Executive Chairman or Director with such businesses. 

    David and his wife Caroline live in Edinburgh, although they enjoy spending time in Highland Perthshire. They have two grown up daughters. 

  • Michael Longstaffe

    Michael LongstaffeChief Executive Officer

    Michael Longstaffe was appointed Chief Executive Officer in April 2011. He supports a great management team in their delivery of the Company’s strategy and vision, focussing on quality, innovation and service.

    Evolving through international sales & marketing disciplines, Michael has worked in FMCG & packaging companies since graduating from Edinburgh University in 1987. Originally at Whyte & Mackay Distillers in Glasgow, he moved through the printing ink industry into Smith Anderson Group 21 years ago. Michael is personally responsible for the Company’s largest single account which he has managed for almost 20 years. He has recently held positions as Vice President of Pack2go Europe and as a board member of the UK Foodservice Packaging Association (FPA) as well as sitting on a number of local boards, including Fife Chamber of Commerce.

    Michael married Sally in 1992 and they have three daughters. He is a motorsport ‘fanatic’ now campaigning a 1970 racing MG Midget and also enjoys shooting, skiing and golf.

  • Keith Verden-Anderson

    Keith Verden-AndersonNon-Executive Director

    Keith Verden-Anderson was appointed non-executive Director of Smith Anderson Group in July 2011.  Since graduating with a 2:1 BSc Honours in Technology and Business Studies from Strathclyde University in 1989, Keith has had a very successful and varied career in companies ranging from IBM in Singapore, Ford in Europe, and 10 years with Smith Anderson as the Group Purchasing Director and Recycling Director.

    In 2006 Keith set up his own Recycling Company and sold it to SAICA in 2011.  He is currently employed as the Director for the SAICA Natur depots in the North region and is involved in supplying SAICA’s state of the art recently opened Paper Mill in Manchester with 450,000 tonnes of waste paper per annum.

    Keith lives in Edinburgh with his wife Niamh and his two daughters, Tara and Eva.  He enjoys cycling and the outdoors.

  • Fiona Partridge

    Fiona PartridgeNon-Executive Director

    Fiona Partridge was appointed Non-Executive Director in January 2003.  She is originally from Fife but now lives and works in Surrey.  Fiona is the Chair of the Company’s Remuneration Committee.

    Fiona is descended from Charles Anderson who originally started the Company and represents her family shareholders on the Board.

    Her time is split between various work commitments and spending time with her two grown up children.

  • Jamie Verden-Anderson

    Jamie Verden-AndersonNon-Executive Director

    Jamie Verden-Anderson was appointed a Non-Executive Director of Smith Anderson Group in 2014. Jamie started working in the family business back in 1992 and has held a number of senior positions within the Group. He currently holds the position as Head of Technical & Engineering responsible for the development of Smith Anderson's manufacturing platform to meet the needs of their customers. 

    Jamie lives near Kinross with his wife Tanji and two daughters, Jaya and Helena.

    He enjoys skiing, golfing and spending time with his family. 

  • David Marriott

    David MarriottFinance Director

    David Marriott was appointed Finance Director in March 2014. A qualified Chartered Management Accountant, David has considerable experience working in FMCG and packaging companies since graduating from Aberdeen University in 1986.

    David commenced his career in Unilever and worked in Van den Bergh and Jurgens, Brooke Bond and Birds Eye Walls. In 2001 he joined Amcor Flexibles Europe and Americas the world’s largest supplier of flexible packaging.

    David lives in Edinburgh with his wife Gill and their three teenage children. He enjoys hill walking, tennis and cricket.

  • Sean Harley

    Sean HarleyOperations Director

    Sean Harley was appointed Operations Director in September 2013. He is responsible for all production, engineering and continuous improvement activities.

    After graduating in 1994 with a BEng degree in Engineering with Management, he spent 10 years working with Johnson & Johnson in Edinburgh, in various production, engineering and project management roles.  He joined Bausch & Lomb, Livingston in 2004 as production manager.  In 2008 he moved to Ireland to become an operations manager with Boston Scientific.  Sean has 18 years' experience of developing and implementing lean manufacturing and continuous improvement strategies.

    Sean lives in Edinburgh with his wife Kirsten and two children, Emily and Alexander. He enjoys cycling, hillwalking and cooking.

  • Olivia Slater

    Olivia SlaterSales Director

    Olivia Slater was appointed Sales Director in June 2015 and is responsible for all external and internal sales and marketing resource.

    After graduating from Leeds University Olivia began her FMCG based career at Unilever and moved on to Rank Hovis McDougall, Griffiths Laboratories and into a significant period with Scottish & Newcastle in 1998. In 2007 Olivia returned to Scotland to join Nairn’s Oatcakes to head up their successful entry into the Gluten Free market, before moving to Graham’s Family Dairies from where she joined Smith Anderson.

    Olivia is married to Phillip and they live in Aberdour with their two sons Gabriel and Joseph. She enjoys swimming, walking and spending time with her family.
