Our Commitment to EUDR Compliance and Sustainable Sourcing

At Smith Anderson we are committed to sustainable sourcing and supporting deforestation-free supply chains. As an upstream operator converting paper into packaging products, we recognise our role in meeting the requirements of the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR}, which seeks to prevent deforestation and forest degradation associated with products placed on the European Union market.

We are actively preparing for EUDR by working closely with a specialist third-party partner who is managing the compliance process on our behalf. This includes integrating with the official TRACES system, through which due diligence statements (DDS) will be submitted.

As converters, we will not be collecting geolocation data ourselves – this information, along with the formal DDS, will be generated by the paper mills supplying our raw materials. Our role is to:

  • Source exclusively from paper mills that provide EUDR-compliant DDS
  • Maintain traceability of materials throughout our operations
  • Provide our customers with the necessary information to support their own EUDR obligations

Continuously

  • Establish and keep an up to date framework of procedures and measures to ensure compliance.
  • Keep a record of the due diligence system, updates and findings for 5 years.

Collaborative

  • We are collaborating with our suppliers and industry partners to support and ensure compliance.

At Smith Anderson, we are committed to having our processes fully aligned with EUDR requirements within the regulatory timelines, and will continue to keep our customers informed as this work progresses.

Smith Anderson are Committed to Sustainable Sourcing and Regulatory Compliance. We prioritize EUDR compliance and will ensure that any system we develop/use is futureproof for any further changes to legislation.
